The views were amazing, and it was the perfect combination of all things "us." City views, upscale decor, but still fun and youthful. It really was terrific. I also loved the fireplace, it's kind of my "thing." So for me, that was a selling point. All of our guests raved about the view and it really created the ultimate wedding reception experience! The Creative Affairs team that coordinates events for Skybox is fantastic! We first met Amanda who showed us the venue and we were impressed by how down to earth she was as well as detail-oriented and organized! We knew our wedding reception would be in good hands with Creative Affairs. Jessica was the coordinator who was assigned to our wedding and she was also fantastic to work with! I'm a Type A personality and had lots of random questions leading up to the wedding and Jessica always responded to my e-mails quickly. Everything about The Ultimate Skybox exceeded our expectations. We booked this venue because the views are phenomenal and as avid baseball fans this venue hit it out of the park. You get the most beautiful view of downtown, Petco Park and Coronado. You can't go wrong with having your wedding here. The flow of the venue was awesome. Some guests would hang outside by the firepit, some at the bar, and others on the dance floor so no matter where our guests were it felt like everyone was included in the fun. Our guests RAVED about our reception asking how we could have ever found such a cool venue in downtown and after months of having our wedding they still talk about our reception and how awesome it was. The Creative Affairs team was so easy to work with and best of all IT WAS ALL STRESS FREE!! We never once stressed about our reception and how it was going to go. Rachael was so wonderful to work with she really made sure I was at ease with the flow, decorations, set up and schedule that I never turned into a bridezilla... haha. It was too perfect. And guess what? With their team of planners by your side, finding all your vendors and keeping them on track is super easy. Do yourself a favor and just come check it out. The view is the best in San Diego, and it's a great way to wow guests right away. SPACE: The room itself is great, if a little board-roomish. To compensate for this, we hired a furniture company to come bring quirky funky chairs and couches, which more than compensated for it. Made it all a really great experience.We had our ceremony off-site because it felt a little awkward to have it there. It would've been fine, but I think it's better as just a reception venue if you can swing it. SERVICE: With the rental comes a day-of coordinator, assigned 3 months before the wedding itself. Ours was a charming young woman named Chauncey, who worked with us every step of the way, holding us to a checklist, asking us questions we didn't even know we needed to answer, and basically guiding us through the entire thing.We cannot say enough nice things about Chauncey, personally or professionally. I have no idea what kind of experience it would've been without her, and I shudder to even consider it. So much of the ease and flow of the entire day was because she was back there running the thing from start to finish. Couldn't have been better. read less

We were there for a birthday party, and from the looks of it, the venue has everything for a great party:- easy to find location, in gaslamp- beautiful view- bar - stage and audio for live band/DJ/speeches- nice bathrooms- food stationsIf you're looking for a sit down dinner, I'm not sure if they're able to provide that, but our party hosts had food stations and tons of hors d'oeuvre being passed around. Food was pretty good too.Not sure about the parking situation since we walked there from our hotel.We had a great time, and as a bonus, Monster Jam was going on at Petco the night we were there, so it was extra entertainment provided. My husband and I are city people and love the urban feel. We checked out so many places and this one was even better than what we expected... I was so happy I found The Ultimate Skybox! It has the most amazing views all around, windows from floor to ceiling, and not to mention the best staff. Julia was our wedding coordinator and was awesome. So friendly and down to earth. We were suppose to have our wedding on the balcony, but there was a big chance of rain, so we had to have it inside... and it turned out, in my opinion, even better inside. The way the windows made reflections on the glossy wood floors was so beautiful. It was so magical. I also loved how our guests could hang out on the heated balcony or inside during the reception.They have everything you could ever need for an amazing wedding! We scheduled a site... read moreMy now-husband and I picked The Ultimate Skybox as our wedding venue for November 2014. We scheduled a site viewing and were blown away by how beautiful the view was. Our contact, Pili, was wonderful at helping us pin down a date and with all the planning up to the day of our wedding. Pili, and the Creative Affairs team, really made our wedding what it was. She saw our vision and went with it. She was very easy going, yet detail-oriented. She was with us every step of the way, checking in often to ensure that everything was going as planned. Her guidance, and our day-of coordinator, Chauncey, were included in the price of the venue. We could not have been more happy with the outcome. We lucked out and had the most beautiful day, with a gorgeous sunset, for our vows. The team changed the room so quickly from our ceremony, to a station dinner set-up, including our first dance set up. This included candles (we provided), in a circle around the dance floor. It was so beautiful. Chauncey was always there for anything we needed. She made sure everything was on schedule, and coordinated with our DJ for songs/dances/toasts/etc. She was not intrusive, though. She only made it in one of our photos 🙂 At the end of the night, the pack-up was so quick. We were prepared to help out a little, but by the time 10 o'clock came, it was pretty much taken care of.Overall, the Skybox was the best place for us to get married. Our families and friends still talk about how flawless things were at our wedding. It's definitely a show-stopping venue and I highly recommend it! Thank you Ultimate Skybox!!! read less

The venue has a sweeping view of the stadium (you can actually watch the game from the balcony) and the harbor. Gorgeous. There's a full bar, super clean bathrooms with lots of toiletry baskets, and even a small area for guestbook/photobooth/gift table settings. Really nice. The wedding I attended began at 5:30pm and it was funny because the music of the Padres getting ready below started to playing during the vows, so all of a sudden you just heard Miley Cyrus rocking out to 'Party in the USA!' WHOO!!! If that doesn't say party, I don't know what does. One cool moment while we were here was when the Padres scored a home run, we could see the fireworks set off from the stadium at the Skybox. The food here is amazing too. I think it's an in-house catering company so if you are looking to have your wedding here, go with the Skybox's choices of caters! Parking is the one thing that really became confusing. When I pulled in to the parking lot under the building, I was told that the Skybox people upstairs would validate my parking. When I asked if there was anything that I needed to pay if I stayed longer or if it became past a certain time, the man who was working the booth just started laughing and me and said "THE SKYBOX WILL VALIDATE!" I was just like, well, all right, took my ticket and drove it. I couldn't believe he laughed at me... at my face! During the cocktail hour, I found one of the staff (later found out he was the security/bouncer man) and had asked him about the Skybox validating my parking. Since I was laughed at, I didn't know what to do. Anyways, he had asked his supervisor and they didn't really know so before I left I asked the people who ran the front desk at the time. They said they didn't really known either, but eventually they let me out. Overall... Beautiful venue and great views of the city. If you are coming to check out the venue for an event/wedding, ask your wedding planner to double check about parking/validation so you don't end up in the same problem as I did! read less

The staff is amazing. Chauncey and Pili were great and kept everything on time and running smoothly. The view was amazing and the experience was unforgettable. We rented the space for a birthday celebration and it was the perfect space, with gorgeous views of downtown San Diego, an outdoor fireplace, a kitchen and bar for the catering team to utilize, monitors for slide shows and a state-of-the-art sound system. Our site liaison, Jessica, was a delight to work with. She was professional, courteous and punctual, the first to arrive and the last to leave on the day of the event. This was actually the first venue at which we looked, and the only reason we didn't sign on right away was me saying "we cant go with the first place we see." But we found ourselves comparing every other space to this one, and we called them soon after to reserve the date. Everyone at Creative Affairs (which manages events at the venue) was fabulous and so willing to work with us at every twist and turn. Whenever we had a question or issue, the crew was willing to accommodate and make it work. And when the big day came, everyone commented on how beautiful the space is and what a wonderful event it was. We were grateful for the flexibility to bring in our own vendors, but that they had a list of preferred vendors. We ended up going with some of their preferred vendors and we were so glad they were familiar with the site, it made things so much easier. Overall, it was a magical experience and a perfect day. They chose the site and I could not have been more pleased. All I did was show up and have a good time and that I did!. When I stepped foot in the skybox, it took my breath away. I stopped in my tracks to take it all in. Photo enlargements of the newlyweds greeted us off of the elevator (a must do!!); the table setting was so pleasant and large windows show-cased views of downtown San Diego and beyond. Then I walked onto the balcony and fans were piling into Petco Stadium as the Padres had a game the same night. It could not have been better!Julia made this experience delightful! I would advise every couple to use the Skybox and to hire Julia!! I live in the Minneapolis, MN area and would have paid more for a venue than I did this in San Diego.Norma K. read less

My husband and I knew this was our wedding venue the moment we stepped into the room. Forget your hotel ballrooms with no windows or generic garden gazebo. You don't even need to spend tons on decorations or lighting with the sweeping city lights and landscape all around you. The venue comes with, hands down, the best wedding coordinators in the business from Creative Affairs, a built in bar (you can bring your own spirits at no extra charge), security, and a list of preferred vendors for rentals and catering that you'd probably pick anyway they're so good. We still get genuine compliments from our wedding guests about how it was the best wedding and venue they'd been to and we were married in October 2016. Sunset pictures from this venue are to die for and unlike other wedding pictures you'll see. We truly had our dream wedding and day at The Ultimate Skybox. Our coordinator, Rachel, allowed us to show our out of town parents the venue on separate occasions before the big day, with no hassle at all. The pricing is upfront, and although maybe a bit higher than other venues, so worth it in the end as it really includes a lot, and allows you to just really enjoy the planning process and wedding day! read less
