We were there for a birthday party, and from the looks of it, the venue has everything for a great party:- easy to find location, in gaslamp- beautiful view- bar - stage and audio for live band/DJ/speeches- nice bathrooms- food stationsIf you're looking for a sit down dinner, I'm not sure if they're able to provide that, but our party hosts had food stations and tons of hors d'oeuvre being passed around. Food was pretty good too.Not sure about the parking situation since we walked there from our hotel.We had a great time, and as a bonus, Monster Jam was going on at Petco the night we were there, so it was extra entertainment provided. The weather was perfect, and we had a great time. Highly recommend this venue if you're looking to host an unforgettable party. read less

My husband and I are city people and love the urban feel. We checked out so many places and this one was even better than what we expected... I was so happy I found The Ultimate Skybox! It has the most amazing views all around, windows from floor to ceiling, and not to mention the best staff. Julia was our wedding coordinator and was awesome. So friendly and down to earth. We were suppose to have our wedding on the balcony, but there was a big chance of rain, so we had to have it inside... and it turned out, in my opinion, even better inside. The way the windows made reflections on the glossy wood floors was so beautiful. It was so magical. I also loved how our guests could hang out on the heated balcony or inside during the reception.They have everything you could ever need for an amazing wedding! Everything about The Ultimate Skybox exceeded our expectations. We booked this venue because the views are phenomenal and as avid baseball fans this venue hit it out of the park. You get the most beautiful view of downtown, Petco Park and Coronado. You can't go wrong with having your wedding here. The flow of the venue was awesome. Some guests would hang outside by the firepit, some at the bar, and others on the dance floor so no matter where our guests were it felt like everyone was included in the fun. Our guests RAVED about our reception asking how we could have ever found such a cool venue in downtown and after months of having our wedding they still talk about our reception and how awesome it was. The Creative Affairs team was so easy to work with and best of all IT WAS ALL STRESS FREE!! We never once stressed about our reception and how it was going to go. Rachael was so wonderful to work with she really made sure I was at ease with the flow, decorations, set up and schedule that I never turned into a bridezilla... haha. They were fantastic. My husband and I do not live in California so I had flown out to look at a few venues, none of them being the Skybox. I told him I narrowed it down to two. Then right before we both had the opportunity to come out to look at the two I had chosen, we saw the Skybox on the Wedding-Spot and the Knot. My husband said we "HAD" to check it out. I called Amanda and she was the nicest person ever. We booked our appointment and the minute we walked in, my husband said: "This is it".The Skybox is stunning and has some of the best views in San Diego. It is non-traditional and made us feel like we truly had a unique wedding. Before the wedding, we were introduced to our wedding coordinator, Chauncey. Chauncey is one of the sweetest people! She is so experienced and organized. I'm a little OCD and she was able to handle my expectations, meet them, and go above and beyond them. Both her and Amanda were always willing to speak with me on the phone and answer any questions/concerns I had. They were able to point me in the right direction as far as a caterer goes and give recommendations for all our other vendors.At the wedding, all our guests expressed how beautiful the venue was. We were told that it was one of the best weddings and that the view from the venue made it. Our guests were extremely happy because everything ran seamlessly. I never had to worry about anything because Chauncey was there t the whole time. She would come up to me about 5 minutes before we had to do the next event (i.e. father-daughter dance, cake cutting, etc.) and ask if Philip (my husband) and I were ready to move on or if we wanted a few more minutes.Honestly, the care and attention she and her staff that day gave were beyond excellent. Chauncey made sure we ate that day, had a drink in our hands, and were overall happy. The venue is drop-dead gorgeous, but the staff deserves all the praise. I will recommend this place 11 out of 10 times. read less

The venue includes an outdoor terrace which overlooks Petco Park, with views of downtown, Point Loma, Coronado & the Pacific Ocean in the background. The venue is quite simply stunning. It's an ideal blend of sophistication and laid back San Diego vibe: not too casual, but not pretentious either. It was perfect! There's a great dance floor area, an ample bar, and even a contemporary outdoor fireplace as well; great for any social gathering. In nice weather, the glass wall leading to the terrace folds completely in, to create a true indoor/outdoor feel. We used this venue on a very busy Padres game night (a Padres/Dodgers game), and even with 40,000+ in attendance, our guests had very few issues with parking or closed streets (there is a 3-level underground parking garage in the building).As for the coordinators: Pili and Chauncey were absolutely amazing! Both were very thorough, professional, and had a meticulous eye for detail. They were also incredibly responsive to all our questions and requests (which were MANY), and were genuinely pleasant to work with. The only thing we would have liked to change about our big day was the weather (which was completely out of their control of course), but even with impending rain, Chauncey remained wonderfully flexible up to the last moment on letting us decided whether or not to hold our ceremony on the outdoor terrace. We received countless compliments from our guests on the seamlessness and flawless execution of our wedding, which is a glowing testament to the entire staff at Creative Affairs. Everything about the venue and the service we received was first class and exceeded our expectations. Our event coordinator, Stefanie Muse, was absolutely amazing. She was accessible, super responsive, and totally on top of every detail regarding our event. Her exceptional service allowed us to focus solely on enjoying our wedding and having a great time with our guests because she handled every little detail and kept the event running smoothly from start to finish. The vendors she suggested were excellent (Although not too fond with the Floral vendor we chose), other than that, it was a night that was unforgettable, and they make your special occasion an event of the year. All of our guests raved about the view and it really created the ultimate wedding reception experience! The Creative Affairs team that coordinates events for Skybox is fantastic! We first met Amanda who showed us the venue and we were impressed by how down to earth she was as well as detail-oriented and organized! We knew our wedding reception would be in good hands with Creative Affairs. Jessica was the coordinator who was assigned to our wedding and she was also fantastic to work with! I'm a Type A personality and had lots of random questions leading up to the wedding and Jessica always responded to my e-mails quickly. We scheduled a site... read moreMy now-husband and I picked The Ultimate Skybox as our wedding venue for November 2014. We scheduled a site viewing and were blown away by how beautiful the view was. Our contact, Pili, was wonderful at helping us pin down a date and with all the planning up to the day of our wedding. Pili, and the Creative Affairs team, really made our wedding what it was. She saw our vision and went with it. She was very easy going, yet detail-oriented. She was with us every step of the way, checking in often to ensure that everything was going as planned. Her guidance, and our day-of coordinator, Chauncey, were included in the price of the venue. We could not have been more happy with the outcome. We lucked out and had the most beautiful day, with a gorgeous sunset, for our vows. The team changed the room so quickly from our ceremony, to a station dinner set-up, including our first dance set up. This included candles (we provided), in a circle around the dance floor. It was so beautiful. Chauncey was always there for anything we needed. She made sure everything was on schedule, and coordinated with our DJ for songs/dances/toasts/etc. She was not intrusive, though. She only made it in one of our photos 🙂 At the end of the night, the pack-up was so quick. We were prepared to help out a little, but by the time 10 o'clock came, it was pretty much taken care of.Overall, the Skybox was the best place for us to get married. Perfect views of Petco park, the San Diego skyline & the bay. They had a 12 foot long outdoor fireplace. They also had a security guy holding us down all night lol.. This is definitely an amazing place and if you ever get the chance to come up here don't skip out. Do yourself a favor and just come check it out. The view is the best in San Diego, and it's a great way to wow guests right away. SPACE: The room itself is great, if a little board-roomish. To compensate for this, we hired a furniture company to come bring quirky funky chairs and couches, which more than compensated for it. Made it all a really great experience.We had our ceremony off-site because it felt a little awkward to have it there. It would've been fine, but I think it's better as just a reception venue if you can swing it. SERVICE: With the rental comes a day-of coordinator, assigned 3 months before the wedding itself. Ours was a charming young woman named Chauncey, who worked with us every step of the way, holding us to a checklist, asking us questions we didn't even know we needed to answer, and basically guiding us through the entire thing.We cannot say enough nice things about Chauncey, personally or professionally. I have no idea what kind of experience it would've been without her, and I shudder to even consider it. So much of the ease and flow of the entire day was because she was back there running the thing from start to finish. Couldn't have been better. read less

The venue has a sweeping view of the stadium (you can actually watch the game from the balcony) and the harbor. Gorgeous. There's a full bar, super clean bathrooms with lots of toiletry baskets, and even a small area for guestbook/photobooth/gift table settings. Really nice. This was actually the first venue at which we looked, and the only reason we didn't sign on right away was me saying "we cant go with the first place we see." But we found ourselves comparing every other space to this one, and we called them soon after to reserve the date. Everyone at Creative Affairs (which manages events at the venue) was fabulous and so willing to work with us at every twist and turn. Whenever we had a question or issue, the crew was willing to accommodate and make it work. And when the big day came, everyone commented on how beautiful the space is and what a wonderful event it was. We were grateful for the flexibility to bring in our own vendors, but that they had a list of preferred vendors. We ended up going with some of their preferred vendors and we were so glad they were familiar with the site, it made things so much easier. Overall, it was a magical experience and a perfect day.
